Valorising residual biomass in food supply chain webinar, organised by the University of Helsinki.
The three-hour webinar included a keynote lecture by Prof. Remko Boom from Wageningen University & Research, the Netherlands, and five presentations by established researchers from Finland and China. The presentations addressed valorisation of side-streams for food and non-food applications, discussing aspects of gentle food processing, bioactive compounds, safety assessment, packaging, smart side-stream utilization, and anaerobic digestion of biomass. During the webinar, around 80 participants had also opportunities for networking with each other and experts in side-stream valorisation.
