Delegation Visits Strengthen Academic Ties and Foster Collaborations
The University of Turku (UTU) recently welcomed two esteemed delegations from Zhejiang Agriculture and Forestry University (ZAFU) and Tianjin. These visits served as platforms to reinforce partnerships and sign Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) that will promote further cooperation in the fields of education and research.
On September 21, 2023, the delegation from ZAFU University arrived at UTU. The visit was a notable step towards strengthening ties between the two institutions. Vice Rector Kalle-Antti Suominen and Professor Baoru Yang, Academic Leader of Finland China Food and Health Network hosted the delegation. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the two institutions earlier this year.
Only a few days later, on October 2, 2023, the University of Turku hosted another distinguished group, this time from Tianjin. This visit held particular significance as it coincided with the 128th anniversary of Tianjin University. Vice Rector Piia Björn, representatives from UTU’s Faculty of Law and Technology, and the International Partnerships Team joined forces to welcome the Tianjin delegation. During the short meeting, the existing MoU between UTU and Tianjin University was renewed, cementing their commitment to continued collaboration in various academic disciplines.
MoUs signed between the institutions are expected to lead to research initiatives, student exchange and the sharing of expertise that will benefit all locally and internationally.
